Parent’s Code of Conduct

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, attitude and encouragement for my child as he/she participates in basketball for the Old Bridge Basketball Association by agreeing to all of the following:

I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials, at all times.

I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.

I will support coaches and officials working with my child to model appropriate behavior and encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

I will remember that youth sports are for the children and not for the adults.

I will do my best to make participating in sports fun for my child.

I will help my child enjoy their experience by being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching or volunteering as needed and whenever possible. As a fan, I will refrain from inappropriate language or gestures aimed at officials, coaches, other volunteers or children.

I will require my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, gender, creed, or ability.

If at any point I have a concern for my child’s well being I will follow the grievance procedure as outlined by the Board of Directors.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship I understand that I am accountable for my own conduct as well as for those attending on my behalf.

I understand that any person who: (a) engages in verbal or physical threats or abuse towards any coach, official, parent, or player; and/or (b) initiates a fight or scuffle with any coach, official, parent, or player, and/or (c) violates the athletic code of conduct, shall be banned from attending future practices, games, and all other subsequent events.

I also understand that any coach, official, parent, or player who violates the athletic code of conduct, and is banned from subsequent events, may petition for permission to resume attendance.  As part of the petition, the banned person must submit proof of completion of an anger management course (through either a public or private source) before they can resume attendance.

All parents or guardians of Old Bridge Basketball Association participants are expected to adhere to this Parents Code of Conduct. The signature below acknowledges receipt of this Parents Code of Conduct and Grievance Procedure. I further understand that failure to comply with the above may result in removal from an event.
